A blazing sunday

Well, today the building right next to the one in which I work caught fire, apparently some canisters holding flammable materials went off in the morning and the fire spread quickly. I hope my lab was not hit by the fire, but only tomorrow I will know what was the extension of the damage to Zepler building. Mountbatten seemed to have been completely burnt, so I reckon the blaze must have been pretty fierce. This is how it looked at dusk today, the extra-crispy black building on the background was Mountbatten building.

Dinnertime at Monte 3

So these are my mates from Monte 3, in a masterful dinner cooked by Le Gran Chef (yours truly). Thank god my adaptation to Pork meat of my family's meatball recipe worked. I even managed to satisfy my Chinese flatmates who were born in the year of the Ox (and which to my surprise, do not eat beef !!). So from left to right: Shree, Felipe and Toby, and Lynn, the leaning girl in front of us.

Treat your mother right

Yeah, so we got Mr. T singing now (well, actually back in the 80s). That just cracked me up!!

Polpette in Cena

So today I ventured into the world of complex italian cuisine (i.e. cooking something more than simply Grano Duro pasta and pouring a ready sauce on it) and tried to make "Meatballs for Dinner". Pasta as well, but that does not count as it's way too easy. Astoundingly enough, the cooking session was a roaring success. Too bad it took us like 3 hours to get entirely finished with the cooking and cleaning, but at least we made enough of them to last a month. Check out the pictures, if I dare to say so myself, a great meal.

A Happy Room

Now this is another entirely different room. A happy one!

One can clearly see the merry ambience and the joy overflowing from every corner of the room. Small elements make such a profound difference in a student accommodation!

An unhappy room

This is an unhappy college room. Notice the air of sadness and depression surrounding every piece of furniture and decor.

Some interesting adverts

Now this is what you could call one-to-many marketing. This photograph depicts some of the tens of ads you can find in phone booths in London. Yep, that's right, I know prostitution is illegal in the UK, but I got "hard" evidence with me that these come from Londoner phone booths.

And the girls have got some interesting names as well.

Going to the bathroom to visit my friends in London

So, yesterday I went to London to visit some of friends of mine who were playing in this place called Ginglik. The place was a former Bomb shelter turned to public bathroom turned to night club. The concept is pretty interesting actually, and the place was very cool as well. Interesting bands playing there, and the overall music was great. Very cool new experience for me. Too bad I only got to meet a very small part of London, which actually turned to a 15 Km random walk around town. I started in Shepherds Bush and ended up in King's cross. Only thing I know right now is that my shin is killing me. But hey, once again, pretty cool experience.

Qui a coupé le fromage?

Now this link leads to a very usefull guide to French phrases, which will definetely make you feel much more confortable in dealing with the French when you are there.

And some people even complain about them being rude, come on, they probably did not have a guide such as this one:
http://yoyo.cc.monash.edu.au/~mongoose/french/phrases.html

It has pearls such as these, (a section just for dealing with the customs):

Avez Vous Quelque Chose Ă  Declarer (Do you have anything to declare)
"I like Spain better"

"Je préfére l'Espagne"
(zhe pre - fer les - pan - ya)

"Yes, I am hungry"(Obelix)

"Oui, J'ai faim"
(wi zhay fin)

"Only my genius"(Oscar Wilde)

"Juste mon genie"
(zhust mon zhay - nee)

"Long live Algeria"

"Vive l'Algerie"
(vee - ve lal - zhe - ree)

Fucking Backrubber

The Backrubber
Deliberate Gentle Sex Dreamer (DGSDm)

Lusty but indirect. Kind, but also using friendship as a means to sex. Oh, that feels gooood. You are The Backrubber.

We call you "The Backrubber" because you straddle that fine line between coming on to someone and just treating her nicely. Backrubs are just one example; you'd meet for coffee, or talk about books/movies, or even argue a little bit, all the while mostly preferring to screw.

Your exact opposite:
The Vapor Trail

Random Brutal Love Master

Your indirect approach is not some evil trickery, but rather a result of your open mind. You'd enjoy either love or sex, but the latter definitely doesn't require the former. While you are responsible and ambitious, you absolutely DON'T have uptight views on relationships. So ultimately, you just enjoy a woman, and let things take their course. If she wants you, great. If not, that's fine too.

Though you're not thinking too much about Love at this point in your life, odds are, when the time comes, you'll be very happy settling down. Your ideal mate is gentle and horny, just like you.

Some bad humour (I guess)

Salisbury

Now, that's another example of ancient buildings that I completely adore! This one is in Salisbury, somewhat near the place where I'm living. And I found the environment within the church simply amazing. So, there you have it, more pictures. Posted by Picasa

Stonehenge

So yesterday I went to Stonehenge, that place with the rocks places in a circular patterns for god knows what purpose (Ok, I listened to the guide telling me the reason). But anyway, very cool place, very interesting people coming along.

Of course there was the usual naked dancing with Swedish students and the Human sacrifices as well. Of course I might be mixing up things a bit, but I assure you that there were swedish students, and there were rocks.

So anyway, enjoy the pictures. Posted by Picasa
